Welcome to Vanuatu's Little Stars Summer School

Vanuatu’s Little Stars Summer School (VLSSS) is a leadership camp for Ni-Vanuatu students to gain key skills and attributes to become the future dynamic leaders of their developing nation.
VLSSS was founded in 2012, with the first summer school successfully completed by 30 year 6 leaver students from just a handful of primary schools across the south of Pentecost Island in January 2013. Following a very successful first year VLSSS grew for January 2014 to take 42 students from primary schools across the whole of Pentecost.
In January 2015 there were 69 students, the school now running a Francophone stream as well as its original Anglophone stream, meaning every primary school across Pentecost could join the program. For January 2016, the school grew for its fourth consecutive year, with a total of 71 students in attendance from across the island.
January 2017 was the celebration of the schools fifth anniversary, with a very exciting development. As well as a new cohort of year 6 leaver students attending the school for the first time, VLSSS welcomed back the graduates from the very first summer school, who had just completed year 10, for further encouragement and support on their journeys to success! This meant a record total of 84 students, and another massive step forward for the program and its students. In January 2018, 100 students came together for the first time, increasing to 113 students in January 2019. January 2020 was the biggest and best summer school yet, with 143 students in total!
The VLSSS committee made a final decision in October 2020 that unfortunately there will be no summer school in January 2021. As well as the global Covid-19 situation and the Cyclone Harold recovery on Pentecost, a lack of capacity this year with committee members unavailable, has led to this inevitable decision. This of course has been a difficult decision to make, with January 2021 to be the first since 2013 without a summer school on Pentecost. We hope for a more positive 2021, and that everyone continues to stay safe and well.
